Abstract

The aim of this study is to refl ect on two notions that are often used in contemporary research, relevant to cultural linguistics: linguistic vision of the world and linguistic image of the world. We start with expressing our conviction that it is not a question of two synonymic concepts nor do we believe that they are opposite notions. In our opinion, they are two ideas that refl ect the relationship between the language and culture of a speech community but at different levels and from a different perspective. In this study we will examine the research works that, in recent years, have used both notions in order to expose their advantages. In the fi rst part of our work we will discuss the background of the discipline and then provide the defi nitions of both notions and their uses most signifi cant uses. We will draw on the studies of researchers who study Slavic languages, Spanish and English.

Abstract

Contamination by pesticides is known to be one of the major issues that are enormously degrading the quality of food and fodder crops together with increased agricultural, environmental and aquatic pollution. Many analytical and laboratory methods are available for detection of these pesticides in products in order to maintain food security but these methods are not readily accessible to most people including farmers for on-site and onfield detection in the crops. The development of more convenient, fast, and cost-effective methods that can be easily accessed by laymen based on simple paper strips or mobile analyzers etc. are need of the time. This review includes a brief discussion about novel devices which have been introduced in the field for pesticide detection viz. easy to use colorimetric and non-colorimetric detection methods based on various electrochemical and optical sensing strategies. These techniques exhibited promising results in field of on-site pesticide detection owing to their easy production, high sensitivity and readily accessible results obtained with these portable devices. This review further describes emerging prospects, deficits and challenges associated with the application of the aforementioned sensing devices.

Abstract

W ramach Programu B adań Stosowanych PBS został wykonany projekt „Innowacyjne metody i system do oceny zagrożenia tąpaniami na podstawie probabilistycznej analizy procesu pękania i geotomografii online”, w którym został opracowany, wykonany i przebadany prototyp systemu INGEO. Stanowi on kontynuację rozwoju systemów sejsmicznego ARAMIS M/E i sejsmoakustycznego ARES-5/E poprzez ich wzbogacenie o nowe, innowacyjne technologie i metody analiz. System został wyposażony w cyfrową transmisję na powierzchnię z wykorzystaniem światłowodów i lokalną w rejonie ściany z wykorzystaniem linii przewodowych. INGEO umożliwia ocenę zagrożenia tąpaniami metodami standardowymi: sejsmoakustyczną, sejsmologii, hazardu sejsmicznego, oraz opartymi na tomografii rejonu przed frontem ściany: pasywną z wykorzystaniem wstrząsów górniczych i aktywną z wykorzystaniem wzbudników lub organu urabiającego kombajnu. System wyposażono ponadto w otworowe czujniki zmian naprężenia i ultradźwiękowe czujniki deformacji wyrobisk w rejonie ściany z lokalną transmisją radiową do przesyłu danych do kanału cyfrowej transmisji przewodowej i światłowodowej. INGEO umożliwia współbieżną kontrolę deformacji w rejonie wyrobisk wokół ściany wydobywczej z precyzyjną kontrolą deformacji na powierzchni nad rejonem ściany w celu doskonalenia opracowanych stochastycznych modeli dla predykcji występowania zagrożeń spowodowanych wstrząsami górniczymi. Monitoring może obejmować szczególnie zagrożone rejony z wykorzystaniem geofonów i nowo opracowanych czujników lub obszar całej kopalni czy kilku połączonych kopalń z wykorzystaniem sejsmometrów. Ze względu na zastosowanie transmisji światłowodowej, precyzyjnie zsynchronizowanej zegarem GPS, strumieniowej transmisji danych oraz wielorejonowej detekcji zjawisk, INGEO stanowi zaawansowaną technicznie ofertę dla kopalń węgla kamiennego oraz rozległych kopalń rud miedzi.

Abstract

The article presents subject matter related to the assessment of the suitability of the built-up area, including the occurrence of sinkholes on the surface. The investment plot, which is the subject of the analysis, is located in the central part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, where shallow exploitation of coal seams was conducted in the past. At present it is a post-mining area, located at a large distance from active mines. It has an attractive administrative location and good transport connection with the main road connecting the cities of the Silesian agglomeration. These advantages make it particularly attractive in terms of use for various types of investments. The geological and mining factors are not favorable in the area in question, mainly due to the shallow mining exploitation conducted in the past and the access excavations on small depth and an unknown method of liquidation. These reasons are the cause of some restrictions in the use of construction, for which taking the appropriate solutions is recommended. According to the study of (Rules... 2009), the category of mining land should be defined for the areas of liquidated mining plants due to the limitation in construction use. The authors of the article made an attempt to determine it, and they analyzed the geological and mining conditions for this purpose, mainly including mining exploitation conducted in the past. On the basis of the obtained results and own experience, the type of expected hazards and its assessment were determined The probability of the occurrence of the inclusions according to the Chudek-Olaszowski method (Chudek et al. 1988) was assumed as a measure of the hazard.

Abstract

This article deals with the new convention on the arrest of ships which was approved on 12 March 1999 during the Diplomatic Conference in Geneva held under the auspices of UNCTAD, IMO and CMI. The new convention supplements and more specifically defines the 1952 convention on the arrest of ships. The aim of this article is to describe the new solutions which were introduced four years ago and to compare them with the convention of 1952. The convention on the arrest of vessels oj 1999 is not entirely new. It will enter into force following its ratification by ten States.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify thoroughly the geological structure of the Choszczno Anticline for potential CO2 storage. The paper presents the interpretation of seismic materials for a selected seismic profile reprocessed into a section of reflection coefficients characterized by increased recording resolution as compared to the wave image. Particular attention was paid to the geological complexes associated with the Jurassic reservoir formations suitable for carbon dioxide storage within the anticline. The correlation of the identified layers reflects the lithology and structure of the rock series. It allows determination of the thicknesses of the series and changes within them, and enables linking the individual layers with the lithologic units, based on geological data. The study refers to the whole Zechstein-Mesozoic succession of the Choszczno Anticline, with special emphasis on these series, in which there are potential reservoir formations for CO2 storage. The interpretation has significantly expanded the amount of data provided in standard seismic documentations. While assessing the suitability of the formations for CO2 storage, special attention should be paid to the tectonic disturbances within the Komorowo Formation, especially in the top part of the Choszczno structure. The Reed Sandstone bed is more continuous in this respect. The obtained results seem to suggest wider application of reprocessing of seismic materials into effective reflection coefficients to study the geological structure, also for other structures.

Abstract

High heat flux removal are important issue in many perspective applications such as computer chips, laser diode arrays, or boilers working on supercritical parameters. Electronic microchips constructed nowadays are model example of high heat flux removal, where the cooling system have to maintain the temperature below 358 K and take heat flux up to 300 W/cm2. One of the most efficient methods of microchips cooling turns out to be the spray cooling method. Review of installations has been accomplished for removal at high heat flux with liquid sprays. In the article are shown high flux removal characteristic and dependences, boiling critical parameters, as also the numerical method of spray cooling analysis.

Abstract

This paper presents an overview of algorithms for one-phase active power estimation using digital signal processing in the time domain and in the frequency domain, and compares the properties of these algorithms for a sinusoidal test signal. The comparison involves not only algorithms that have already been published, but also a new algorithm. Additional information concerning some known algorithms is also included. We present the results of computer simulations in MATLAB and measurement results gained by means of computer plug-in boards, both multiplexed and using simultaneous signal sampling. The use of new cosine windows with a recently published iterative algorithm is also included, and the influence of additive noise in the test signal is evaluated.

Abstract

The Paschal Mystery of Christ made present in the sacramental liturgy is a model of spiritual growth of Christians on the way of purification, illumination, and unificati-on. The transition (Passover) of Christ from death to life is a model of a Christian way. Christians live in connection with the paschal mystery every day when they strive to do what is more perfect and when they express the newness of life in the performance of good deeds. The participation in the transition of Christ through death to a new life consists in abandoning the way of life of a sinful man and striving for deeds of a man renewed in the mystery of Christ’s death and His glorious resurrection. Faith received at baptism enables a man to participate in the paschal mystery of Christ and offers a participation in the resurrection of the Son of God. The union with Christ and remai-ning in Him is the participation in the sacrifice of the Savior according to the paschal theology. The Passover is an event that brightens with its splendor not only the life of the individual Christian, but also the whole history of mankind. The final fulfillment in Christ is the purpose of the whole universe.

Abstract

This paper identifies the adverse events occurring during the execution of water supply and sewerage systems construction. The basis for this paper is research conducted in 2010-2014 on the construction sites of water supply and sewerage systems located in the provinces of Lower Silesia and Opole. The research consisted of direct observations of construction sites and review of construction documentation. It showed that work stoppages on the examined construction sites were frequent. They were caused by violations of work discipline by the production employees, adverse weather conditions, and defects in the project documentation. The study demonstrated that in almost every case, these bad an adverse effect on the completion date and budget of the investment. The analyses show that in such important and expensive investments as water supply and sewerage systems, organizational structures in which a special role is assigned to middle-rank personnel should be adopted.

Abstract

W przeszłości zakładano w teologii całkowite zastąpienie Izraela na obecnym etapie Bożej ekonomii zbawczej przez Kościół Chrystusowy. Tymczasem współczesne nauczanie Magisterium coraz wyraźniej odrzuca takie założenie. Myślenie o Żydach w perspektywie religijnej nie zaczyna się teraz od pamięci zerwania, lecz od wyznania „duchowej więzi”, wspólnych korzeni, wspólnego dziedzictwa. Zgodnie z nauczaniem Kościoła aktualnie istniejąca wspólnota wyznawców judaizmu tak czerpie z dziedzictwa Starego Testamentu i tak je rozwija, że warto zalecić „obustronne poznanie się i poszanowanie”, wspólne studia biblijne i teologiczne, „braterskie rozmowy”. Nie wolno już w teologii, która chce być katolicka, konstruować obrazu Żyda według własnych wyobrażeń, lecz trzeba wysłuchać jego świadectwa o sobie i wierze i na tej podstawie próbować zrozumieć, wewnątrz własnej wiary, jego miejsce w planach Bożych. Na podstawie takich założeń artykuł próbuje przedstawić katolickiej teologii judaizmu pewne kierunki rozwiązań do przemyślenia i dyskusji.
