The article discusses the relations between contrastive linguistics and applied phraseology. Applied phraseology, and particularly phraseodidactics and phraseotranslation, respond to the vast needs of the contemporary world in terms of effi cient didactics and successful translation of the broadly conceived phraseological structures. The author demonstrates how the disciplines in question may use the developments of contrastive linguistics in order to expand their own areas of interest.

The aim of the article is to discuss some issues concerning the problem ofinterlinguistic equivalence of phraseologisms. The article presents definitions of phraseological units and different aspects of equivalence. In this work, the author presents analysis of the concrete linguistic material (a series of sequences including names of the human body parts in French, Italian and Polish) and he discusses classification of the potential equivalents in homologue categories, partial correspondents and idiomats.

The major task of this paper is to show and discuss the tools, techniques and strategies which affect the development of phraseological competence in foreign languages. First, the author will investigate a wide range of available dictionaries as well as French textbooks. Then, the selected techniques and phraseo-didactic strategies will be explored. Finally, the author will provide an in-depth review of the method according to which the discussed techniques and strategies have been put in practice in the selected texts on phraseo-didactics
