Such a situation create a long-lasting hazard to the natural environment, man's safety and property. The methane rises to the ground surface within the Polish part of the USCB are not such a significant problem yet. Future liquidation ofcoal mines however, should be preceded by preparation of sufficient prevention against this phenomena. The preferred solution is the active, controlled degassing, and lowering the pressure in the vadose zone, above the water level within the flooded mining areas.}, title={Experiences of uncontrolled methane Rises to the ground surface within flooded mining areas in the czech part ofthe Upper silesian coal basin - strategy and tactics of their minimalization and elimination}, type={Article}, URL={http://czasopisma.pan.pl/Content/133754/PDF-MASTER/8_GSM_22_1_2006_Grmela_Doswiadczenia.pdf}, keywords={methane, hydrogeology, The Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB), mining closure}, }
