 abstract={The article develops the concept of the environmental memory of coal based on available sources from the times of displacement in the villages of the Bełchatów Industrial District. Verifying the findings of coal humanities, the author analyses the difference between the memory of the hard coal and brown coal environments, and then, trying to present the results of field research conducted in selected BOP villages or with the inhabitants of already displaced villages, draws attention to the difference in formulating conclusions about how they remember the nature of the inhabitants of the Bełchatów Basin and how this memory is arranged depending on the type of source.},
