It was a kind of theoretical and critical account of the debate between translators, critics, literary scholars and philologists in the literary translation section of the Moscow branch of the Union of Writers. The editorial board consisted of eminent scholars and translators such as Vladimir Rossel’s, Olga Cholmskaja, Samuil Maršak, Ivan Kaškin, Ėfim Etkind. The issue of the almanac, published until 1990, was animated by scientific ambitions and, in its first decade, opened its “forum” to supporters of Social realism in Translation theory, inspired by the basic principles and orientations of socialist realism.
